 Like it says in the header we are an organization by and for DSP'sWe believe That DSP's, consumers, and employers must work together to win changes that make sense for all those who provide and recieve services. In the right of all consumers to recieve quality long term support in their own home. In quality jobs for DSP's that include a living wage, benefits, training, and respectful working conditions. That the current long term care system is irrational, under funded, and must be changed. That the fulfillment of these principles will create a stable DSP workforce that is essential to providing quality services.
DSP's are proud professionals who value their relationships with consumers and employers. With better pay and benefits, workers will stay with their consumers longer and not disrupt their lives and families because they are unable to make ends meet. Current pay rates and lack of benefits often drive the best workers out of the profession they love. Workers are delighted to work with consumers and employers to seek the respect required in order to provide quality care and attract more qualified people into the profession. The Illinois Direct Support Professionals call on all consumers and their families to join with employers and DSP's in this campaign to achieve a system of services and supports that is just and equitable for all!
